About FormGuard

Last updated: October 16, 2026

FormGuard is a private, independent service that checks a USCIS form you have already filled in for the clerical defects that get filings returned. It is not a law firm, gives no legal advice, does not prepare or file applications, does not collect government fees, and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to USCIS or any U.S. government agency. You file your own application and pay USCIS directly.

What FormGuard checks

You upload a completed form. It is checked against that form's current edition, every signature block and who must sign it, the required-field areas USCIS documents as rejection triggers, the mm/dd/yyyy date rule, and the consistency of names, dates and A-Numbers across the whole filing rather than field by field. The forms it covers are listed in the form guides.

You see the risk level and the number of issues found for free, before paying. $49, one time, unlocks the full report naming each issue and how to fix it. A scanned PDF longer than 3 pages skips the free preview and goes straight to the paid report.

What it does not do:

How it works

The check is automated. When a PDF has a text layer — the common case — the text is extracted in your browser and only that text is sent for analysis. Photos and scanned pages are read page by page and then reviewed as one whole form. The analysis is generated by AI (third-party large language models) working from that form's rules, and the result is a list of issues to review before you file, not a legal opinion.

Your uploaded form is analyzed in memory and is not written to our servers or database unless you ask us to keep it after a failed check. What is stored, and for how long, is set out in the privacy policy.

The written pages on this site are drafted by machine from a verified dataset and published under FormGuard's name. There is no individual byline on them because no individual writes them. What each page carries instead is the source it was built from and the date that source was last verified.

Where the fee and edition data comes from

Filing fees come from USCIS Form G-1055, the fee schedule USCIS publishes at uscis.gov/g-1055 (what Form G-1055 is). Form edition dates, signature blocks, date rules and rejection triggers come from each form's page on uscis.gov and its published USCIS instructions. All of it is kept in one dataset, and every page that prints a fee or an edition reads that one file.

How often it is checked:

Not legal advice, and not affiliated with USCIS

FormGuard is a private, independent service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) or any U.S. government agency. FormGuard is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. If your question is whether you qualify for a benefit, or which form or category you should use, ask a licensed immigration attorney or a DOJ-accredited representative. The official U.S. government immigration website is uscis.gov.
